Tottenham Hotspur are not shying away from the prospect of a transfer battle with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea for one of England’s best young attacking prospects, but the Lilywhites would have to shatter their transfer record to sign the player.

Jamie Gittens is turning heads with his performances this season
The likes of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham have all made their name at Borussia Dortmund before making big-money switches to elite clubs, and it looks like Jamie Gittens might become the latest Englishman to follow the same route.
The winger, who has 11 goals and five assists to his name so far this season, has been one of the few bright sparks in what has been a campaign to forget for the Bundesliga giants.
It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Spurs are expected to be right in the thick of the race for the Man City academy graduate’s signature in the summer.

Tottenham would have to pay a huge fee to sign Jamie Gittens
The Sun have now become the latest outlet to credit Spurs with an interest in the pacy winger, revealing that the decision makers at Hotspur Way are plotting an ‘audacious summer move’ for the Dortmund starlet.
They claim that the race for the England Under-21 international is now heating up, with Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea also keen on offering him a route back to the Premier League.
It is asserted that Dortmund will cash in on Gittens if they miss out on European qualification this season. However, the German club will not let the winger leave on the cheap and are expected to demand around £80m for his services.

Will Spurs shatter their transfer record on Gittens?
There is no doubt that Tottenham will be in the market for attacking additions in the summer, with Timo Werner‘s loan spell coming to an end.
Jamie Gittens fit the bill for Ange Postecoglou‘s Tottenham side, being young, homegrown, quick, versatile and having a high ceiling. However, it remains to be seen if the club feel that the 20-year-old is valuable enough for them to completely shatter their transfer record.
Tottenham usually end up doing their shopping in the £30m-£60m range, which is why it would be surprising if they meet Dortmund’s asking price for the former City youngster.
