Jamie O’Hara claims he would pay £5m to get rid of Spurs player

Jamie O’Hara has slammed Emerson Royal and remarked that he would pay £5m for another club to take the Brazilian off Tottenham’s hands.

Emerson had started all but one Premier League game heading into the clash at the Amex Stadium but the 23-year-old had to miss out on Saturday after being suspended for three games as a result of the red card he picked up in the North London Derby.

Matt Doherty was handed his first start of the season by Conte, and although he looked a little rusty in the final third, the Republic of Ireland international made some well-timed runs into the box and was defensively sound.

The former Wolves man earned Antonio Conte’s praise following the 1-0 win (Spurs TV) and the 30-year-old will be hoping that he now gets a run of starts under his belt.

If it were up to O’Hara, Emerson would not play another game for Tottenham, with the former Spurs midfielder claiming that he costs the side in every match.

O’Hara told talkSPORT Edge: “I would pay someone to take him off our hands. I ain’t got a lot in my bank but I’d give you £5m to get rid of this liability because he is costing us every week.”

We all know that wing-back is not Emerson’s natural position but he always gives 110 per cent when he is picked for the team and he is clearly a dedicated professional. So, I believe the criticism for picking him should be levelled at Conte and not the player.
