Jamie O’Hara makes a claim about Tottenham’s season that Arsenal fans will hate

Jamie O’Hara has offered his take on who will have had a better season between Tottenham and Arsenal if the Lilywhites win the Europa League and the Gunners end the season empty-handed.

It is strange how football works. Tottenham Hotspur have had several dominant sides over the last decade and a half, having competed for the biggest trophies in the game, but they were unable to get over the line and win any silverware during that time.

The last time they won a trophy was in 2008, in a season where they finished in the bottom half of the table. The manager who led them to that trophy, Juande Ramos, was sacked not too long after that cup win.

History could repeat itself this season as Spurs are now almost certain to finish in the bottom half of the table, but they potentially have one foot in the Europa League final after overcoming Bodo/Glimt 3-1 at home in the first leg on Thursday.

Jamie O’Hara on Tottenham’s potential Europa League success

Tottenham’s North London rivals now face the very real prospect of ending another season without any trophy after losing 1-0 at home to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal.

Arsenal fans would be seething at the possibility of Spurs being involved in a European final while they have nothing to play for.

Jamie O’Hara believes that if Mikel Arteta’s men do not win the Champions League and Ange Postecoglou’s men lift the Europa League, Tottenham would have had a better season than their bitter rivals.

O’Hara is throwing the logic of Arsenal fans back at their faces

Spurs fans will remember what the chatter was on social media during the Mauricio Pochettino era, where Tottenham were consistently competing near the top end of the table while Arsenal were regularly failing to qualify for the Champions League.

At the time, Arsenal fans kept insisting that Tottenham’s great showing in the Premier League and Champions League did not matter since they failed to win a trophy.

They were adamant that they had a more successful spell since they won an FA Cup or two during the time, despite finishing as low as eighth on a couple of occasions.

Spurs fans should thus not be shy of claiming the bragging rights this season if the Lilywhites win the Europa League and Arsenal end the season empty-handed.
