Jamie O’Hara wants Tottenham to sign 82-cap England international but Spurs are not interested

Jamie O’Hara has made a controversial transfer suggestion that many Tottenham fans may vehemently disagree with.

Tottenham have been linked with a whole host of wingers across Europe this month, but they have seemingly been unable to make progress on any deal so far.

With the transfer deadline now just days away, the Lilywhites may be running out of time and options.

O’Hara has now suggested that Thomas Frank’s men should secure an experienced forward who has featured for both of the club’s fierce London rivals recently.

Jamie O’Hara wants Tottenham to sign Raheem Sterling

O’Hara has said that Spurs should look to sign Raheem Sterling on a free transfer after the England international’s contract with Chelsea was terminated on Tuesday.

The former Tottenham midfielder suggested that the 31-year-old could be offered a temporary contract, claiming he would improve Spurs’ starting eleven.

The pundit told talkSPORT’s Sports Bar about Sterling: “I would have him at Tottenham. I would absolutely take Sterling at Tottenham. I think he’s a good player. He’s better than what we’ve got.

“I’d sign him on a contract to the end of the season if he was willing to do that. “I don’t know what other offers he’s got in terms of, he might have a long-term contract in Saudi offering him loads of money. But if the candle is still lit and he wants to still be a Premier League football player, I would give him an opportunity at Tottenham.”

O’Hara believes Sterling has unfinished business in the Premier League

Sterling’s career has nosedived over the last few years since being a key player for an extremely successful Man City side.

O’Hara believes that the experienced forward would be hungry to prove himself in the Premier League and would plug a hole in Thomas Frank’s squad.

He continued about Sterling: “I think he still has the desire. He’s been training on his own, and he’s had his contract paid up. He wouldn’t have got the full settlement so he’s basically turned around to them and said I can’t be here anymore, I need to go and play.

“So for me, he’s got the desire to play. Spurs need a left winger. Now, I’m not saying you give him a long-term deal, but I’d give him a contract if he was on offer on a free, you get Sterling in a football club.

“I think he’s a good player. I think he could still produce moments. I think if he got his confidence back and a bit of belief, I would have him at Tottenham.”

However, Alasdair Gold reports that Tottenham will not be making a move for Sterling this window.
