Jamie Redknapp on whether Spurs are still in the title race

Tottenham’s defeat at Turf Moor on Friday put a massive dent on their title hopes. With Liverpool getting a point away at Old Trafford on Sunday, Spurs now find themselves six points off the Reds and 5 points behind Manchester City in second place, with a worse goal difference than their rivals.

After the game, Pochettino admitted his disappointment about the result and said that it was a must-win game in the Lillywhites’ quest to hunt down Liverpool and City. Spurs now have a tough set of fixtures coming up as they face Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool in three of their next four games.

Former Liverpool and Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp said that Pochettino’s men have to win every single game until the end of the season to have a chance of pipping the top two. The 45-year-old also said he expects more slip-ups from the top sides going into the final run of fixtures.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Redknapp said, “Their goal difference is poorer and they have to somehow go on a run and win every game now. It’s as simple as that.

“I’ve heard people say Liverpool have got to win every game, that’s not going to happen. This is the time now where you’re playing against teams like Burnley, who are fighting for their lives, they aren’t just going to roll over and let you win.

“Are City capable of winning every game? Of course they are. But they lost two weeks ago to Newcastle. This is such a tough period to go through.”
