Jamie Redknapp suggests Pochettino’s motive behind Spurs return comments

Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino’s comments about Tottenham Hotspur last night were meant to keep the North London faithful happy.

The former Spurs boss was a guest on BT Sport’s Champions League Throwback show which saw the Champions League semi final second leg against Ajax being televised once again.

The Argentine admitted that he is dreaming of retracing his steps back to Tottenham one day, revealing that he hopes to return and win a trophy for supporters that eluded him during his five-and-a-half years in charge (BT Sport).

Redknapp has claimed that Pochettino’s comments about returning to N17 are slightly disrespectful to his successor Jose Mourinho.

Pochettino led Spurs to top-four finishes in four of his five seasons in charge, as well as their first Champions League final in the 2018/19 campaign.

After a poor start to the current season he was dismissed by Daniel Levy in late November and has been out of work ever since.
Redknapp has told Sky Sports’ The Football Show (30/4/2020 at 09:05am): “I wouldn’t be too happy if I am Jose Mourinho. Sometimes with managers, they say things to keep fans on side. Fans love him there. Jose went back to Chelsea. I wouldn’t be surprised if he manages Tottenham again in a few years,”
