Jan Vertonghen pokes fun of Tottenham team mate on Twitter

As a big Premier League force, Tottenham Hotspur naturally have some of the world’s best international stars on their books.

Spurs currently boast the captain of England in Harry Kane, captain of Kenya in Wanyama, captain of Ivory Coast in Serge Aurier, the captain of South Korea in Heung Min Son, captain of France in Hugo Lloris and more.

The Tottenham Hotspur fan account Hotspur Memories today tweeted out a throwback to when two Spurs teammates met on the international stage, albeit before they were friends.

In the Brazil World Cup back in 2014, Belgium beat South Korea 1-0, with the sole goal coming from Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen.

This came a year before Sonny ended up joining Jan at Spurs in 2015, and Vertonghen has now taken the opportunity to cheekily apologise to his Tottenham buddy.

Vertonghen went on to become Belgium’s most capped player ever, and Heung Min Son earned the captain’s armband for his nation, so neither is doing too badly on the international stage.
