Jan Vertonghen sends message to fans after defeat at Man City

Tottenham Hotspur’s poor away form continued this afternoon after suffering a narrow 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

Spurs have lost five successive league away games for the first time since May 2004, a run of six under manager David Pleat.

Despite the highs of qualifying for the Champions League semi final on Wednesday night following an away goals victory against Pep Guardiola’s side, Spurs have now lost 11 league games this season, as many as they had in their previous two campaigns combined (4 in 2016-17, 7 in 2017-18).

After the defeat, Jan Vertonghen took to Twitter to address the supporters and insists that the focus is now on Tuesday night’s home Premier League fixture against strugglers Brighton.

The Seagulls are involved in a relegation battle with Cardiff City while nothing less than three points will do for Spurs if they are to keep their hopes of a top four finish alive.

Here’s what Vertonghen had to say on Twitter.
