Jan Vertonghen takes to Twitter to react to Giovani Lo Celso’s head stamp

Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen wasted no time in taking to Twitter when he reacted in disbelief after watching an ugly incident during the Premier League match against Sheffield United.

The central defender who left North London at the end of last season to join Portuguese giants Benfica was amazed at the decision by the officials after Giovani Lo Celso was left writhing in agony in the ground.

The incident which happened in the 46th minute saw the Argentine fall to the floor after being barged over by John Fleck and the Blades player’s boot made significant contact with the side of the midfielder’s head.

VAR decided to review the incident and despite the fact that Fleck looked down before putting his boot made contact with Lo Celso, they ruled that no action should be taken against the Scottish international.

Vertonghen posted two Tweets about the dangerous piece of play, in which he was left surprised by the outcome.
