Janssen transfer U-turn

The fate of Vincent Janssen seems to have taken another turn this summer, after he looked set to be on the way out of Pochettino’s Tottenham.

The Dutch striker was stripped on his number 9 earlier this week, and wasn’t allocated a new squad number, all but condemning him to a transfer out of the club.

Fenerbahçe were said to be interested in taking on the Tottenham flop, but The Sun claims that the deal has now hit a snag as Janssen has aggravated an old injury.

The new injury could see him out until around Christmas time, meaning that a transfer away is unlikely until the January transfer window.

Spurs bought the 24-year-old for £17m from AZ Alkmaar after a prolific goal return through the season before, scoring 27 goals in 34 games.

However, since then Janssen has only managed 35 appearances for Tottenham, netting just the six goals, not the return Tottenham had hoped.

The striker was loaned out to Fenerbahçe last campaign, but it could be a few months before Janssen sees a move back there.
