Jenas reveals he was shocked by what Pochettino told him about Spurs in 2021

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Jermaine Jenas, has revealed that he was shocked by what Mauricio Pochettino told him about the club earlier this year (BBC Radio Five Live).

Pochettino was sacked from his role as Tottenham head coach back in November 2019 and was swiftly replaced by Jose Mourinho. The Argentine was later picked up by his former club, PSG.

This week, reports emerged that the Argentine may want to return to N17, while Daniel Levy was also interested in bringing him back (Sun).

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke and Football.London’s Alasdair Gold both then reported that Spurs and Pochettino had even held talks over a potential return.

Jenas told BBC Radio Five Live that he did an interview with the Argentine earlier this year and that he couldn’t get the PSG manager to stop talking about Spurs at one point.

Pochettino allegedly spoke repeatedly about coming back to Tottenham one day, although reports indicate that ‘one day’ could be even sooner than some thought.

Jenas said: “I did an interview with him back in March, I think, or February it was, around that time, and he spoke non-stop about returning to Tottenham at one point.

“It actually shocked me. He had only just left. He kept saying, ‘I know one day I will be back at that football club. One day I will be back’.”
