Jenas suffers injury blow

Jermaine Jenas - Tottenham Hotspur News

Aston Villa midfielder Jermaine Jenas has been told not to work so hard after being ruled out for three weeks with an Achilles tendon problem.

The 28-year-old is on loan at Villa Park from Tottenham, and is yet to feature for Alex McLeish’s side after picking up a knock in training.

Villa assistant boss Peter Grant said: “He came in during the first few days and he was excellent and gave the place a massive lift.

“He gave us something that we have not got.

“His talent is exceptional but unfortunately he was working so hard to try and get fit from one injury that he has picked up another one.”

He added: “We managed to get him in and in the first few days he was fantastic and we thought ‘Wow, we have got a star here,’ because he had a real hunger and desire to do well.

“But on the other side of the coin he has maybe been working too hard and that has caused a setback with this injury.

“Hopefully in this break he will be a lot closer playing because he can be a big asset to us.”
