Jermain Defoe is shocked ‘unbelievable’ Tottenham youngster hasn’t played this season

Tottenham Hotspur’s Jermain Defoe has singled out Tyrese Hall as a youngster to keep an eye on, expressing his surprise that the talented midfielder has yet to make a first-team appearance.

Tottenham Hotspur’s focus on youth development has become increasingly evident in recent seasons. The club has placed greater trust in its young prospects, and this campaign has seen the emergence of several promising talents.

Mikey Moore, Archie Gray, and Lucas Bergvall have all been handed significant minutes, showcasing their potential on the big stage.

Gray, in particular, has stood out. Archie Gray won the Young Player of the Year award at the London Football Awards following an impressive first season in the Premier League.

Moore, meanwhile, has been tipped by Defoe himself to be a future star, while Micah Richards has openly called for the 17-year-old to be given more game time.

Jermain Defoe praises Tyrese Hall’s talent and potential

Speaking to Squawka, former Spurs striker Jermain Defoe shared his thoughts on the club’s young stars and the progress they have made this season.

During the discussion, he highlighted one player from the under-23 squad who has particularly caught his attention.

The ex-Tottenham man was full of praise for Tyrese Hall, admitting he was surprised that the youngster has yet to feature for the first team.

He said: “And there’s a player called Tyrese Hall. I am quite surprised that he has not featured yet, to be honest. An unbelievable talent.

“One of the best I have seen. From my two years in the academy, and even the teams that we played against, I would put Tyrese up there in the top three players that I have seen of that age. He is obviously with the under-23s now.”

What next for Tyerese Hall at Tottenham?

Tottenham’s faith in youth is paying off, with Gray, Bergvall, and Moore all proving their worth. The club’s commitment to nurturing young talent is clear, and Defoe’s comments only add to the excitement surrounding Hall.

However, despite his evident potential, Hall is yet to be given an opportunity in the senior squad. Given the club’s current approach, it would not be surprising to see Hall sent out on loan to gain experience before making the step up.

If he is as good as Defoe suggests, it may only be a matter of time before Hall becomes the next academy product to break through at Tottenham.
