Jermaine Jenas impressed as Spurs star showed ‘character’ against LASK

Jermaine Jenas has praised Dele Alli for stepping up to take the spot-kick in Tottenham’s 3-3 draw against LASK this evening.

It was a performance to forget for Jose Mourinho’s side, who were lacklustre all across the pitch. However, it looked as though they were going to grab all three points after Alli stepped up to convert a late penalty to put Spurs 3-2 ahead with five minutes to go.

The midfielder has struggled for game time this season but he was certainly not lacking in confidence as he grabbed the ball as soon as the referee blew for a spot-kick after Steven Bergwijn was brought down in the box.

The England international put the penalty away with swagger as he sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.

However, that did not turn out to the be the matchwinner, with the home side grabbing a late equaliser courtesy of a brilliant finish by substitute Mamoudou Karamoko.

The draw was enough to see Tottenham advance to the knockout stages with one game to spare. Here’s what Jenas tweeted about Alli after the 24-year-old converted the penalty:
