Jermaine Jenas names his ‘biggest fear’ for Tottenham now this season

Jermaine Jenas has admitted that he is fearful of whether Tottenham Hotspur would be able to cope if James Maddison gets injured at any point this season.

Many Spurs fans were delighted that the club were more-or-less unopposed in their pursuit of Maddison this summer, with the North London club managing to get the player for £40m following Leicester City’s relegation from the top flight.

The 26-year-old’s impact has been instant in N17, having not just become the main creative outlet of the side but also one of the leaders of the changing room, having been appointed as vice-captain by Ange Postecoglou.

From his body language and the respect he commands from his teammates, one would have thought that the England international had already been at Tottenham for many years.

How would Spurs replace an injured Maddison?

Jenas has now hailed the attacking midfielder’s transformative impact and admitted that Spurs would be a completely different team without him.

The former Tottenham man told TNT Sports (as relayed by Football Fancast) about Maddison: “He’s transformed a team on his own.

“That’s the biggest fear for Spurs, his fitness and maintaining that all year. If you take him out of that team it’s totally different. He’s a top-class talent on the verge of being a world-class talent as soon as he gets on that stage.”

Every team in the division has a couple of players who make a massive difference, with even Man City showing that they are nowhere near as good without Rodri.

However, the issue with Tottenham’s over-reliance on Maddison is the midfielder’s troubling injury record. There is no doubt that he is going to pick up an injury and at some point in the season we will need Lo Celso to deliver.
