Jimmy Greaves’ family provide update on legendary striker’s condition

The family of legendary Tottenham Hotspur striker Jimmy Greaves have thanked the fans for all the positive messages of support they have received since the iconic ex-forward was hospitalised earlier this week.

The club confirmed on Tuesday that Greaves had been admitted to hospital and was undergoing treatment for an unspecified illness.

However, it was confirmed in a statement released by the North London outfit earlier today on behalf of his family that he “has not tested positive for Covid-19 nor suffered another stroke”.

The 80-year-old, who is still Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer with 266 goals, suffered a severe stroke five years ago which left him wheelchair-bound (Standard).

On hearing the news of Greaves’ hospitalisation earlier in the week, some fans took to social media to send him and his family a heartfelt message and wish him a quick recovery.

It looks like the legendary striker’s family have been touched by the messages they’ve received as they reportedly asked the club to pass on their thanks to all the well-wishers.

Spurs posted the following message from the official Twitter account this afternoon:
