Joachim Andersen responds to speculation – ‘It is very nice to hear’

Tottenham Hotspur may be in the market for a centre back come the summer, with the long-term future of Toby Alderweireld in some doubt.

The Belgian had his contract extended this year until the summer of 2020, although that activated a clause that may see him leave for just £25m this summer.

If Tottenham do lose Alderweireld, they have the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth waiting in the wings already, but may still feel the need to strengthen.

One player who Spurs have been heavily linked with of late is Sampdoria’s Joachim Andersen (Gazzetta dello Sport).

The price for the defender is said to be 25 million euros, a very reasonable value in today’s transfer climate (Secalo).

And now the player himself has spoken out about the transfer rumours, claiming everyone is asking him about it at the moment.

Andersen said he was keen on concentrating on finishing the season strong with his current club, but that the links were ‘nice to hear’.

He said (Elf Voetbal): “Everyone is asking me at the moment where I am going. Of course I also get it that big clubs would be interested in me and that is very nice to hear, but at the moment it is not the time to talk about a new club, I am proud to play for Sampdoria and I want to do everything we can to put ourselves in the Europa League.”
