£35m Moutinho to replace Modric?

Reports in the press today claim that Andre Villas-Boas will make Joao Moutinho his main transfer target if he is appointed as Tottenham boss.

Moutinho has just suffered heartbreak with Portugal in Euro 2012 where he missed a penalty in the shoot-out against Spain. He operates mainly as a central midfielder but can also slot in as a holding midfielder or on either flank which carries a price tag said to be £32million.

If Modric departs the Lane as many expect, Moutinho would prove to be a top-class replacement for the want-away Croatian who is craving a return to Champions League football.

AVB worked with Moutinho during their time together at Porto where they enjoyed massive success. Moutinho has three years left on his deal in Portugal and Spurs will have to trigger the £35million buy-out clause if we are to stand any chance to land the 25-year-old.

If there is any chance for this to happen then a Modric exit would have to fund the deal.
