Joao Palhinha has hailed the quality of new Tottenham signing Xavi Simons, praising what the young midfielder has already shown since arriving in north London.
Tottenham Hotspur underwent several changes in the summer, changing their manager and bringing in new players to help improve their squad.
Those changes so far have brought about some positive effects, with Tottenham sitting third in the Premier League table, while also getting their Champions League campaign off to a winning start.
The new signings have also looked very much settled into the team, and have added more competition for places in the Tottenham squad.

Joao Palhinha praises Tottenham teammate Xavi Simons
Speaking to Hayters, loan signing Joao Palhinha has opened up on what one of Tottenham’s latest recruits, Xavi Simons, brings to the side.
Palhinha was quick to underline the attacking qualities Simons possesses, while also noting the competition his arrival adds to the squad.
The Portuguese said: “It is a lot of quality, offensively he will bring us, for sure, a lot of things. He is a really young player, a lot of talent and I think he will help us a lot in those key moments.
“And he is one more player to bring competition for the squad because, I think how much you have top players inside of the team. Much more it is going to be the competitive for the places.”
Xavi Simons already making an impression at Spurs
Simons has had a positive start to life in N17, with the Dutchman grabbing an assist in his debut against West Ham United.
He continues to grow into his role as a Tottenham player, and his recent outing against Villarreal looked much sharper, although there is still room for improvement.
Simons’ signing does indeed bring competition, as the 22-year-old is versatile enough to feature off the left and as a ten, keeping the likes of Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel on their toes.
