Joe Cole has urged Daniel Levy to turn to a left-field choice to replace Ange Postecoglou by raiding a Championship club for a young English coach, whose reputation is growing rapidly in the game.
Tottenham are yet to officially announce whether they will continue with Ange Postecoglou, but it has been alleged that Spurs have already started speaking to managerial candidates.
According to reports, Tottenham are considering current Premier League managers to replace Postecoglou, with Thomas Frank, Marco Silva, Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner rumoured to be the club’s top targets.
However, some sources have said that there are concerns at Spurs over these managerial candidates, while Alasdair Gold has also revealed that there are fears at Tottenham of a potential backlash from the fan base if they replace Postecoglou with a manager whose side has finished in mid-table this season.

Joe Cole believes Michael Carrick should be an option for Spurs
Joe Cole believes that rather than going for the likes of Silva and Frank, Tottenham should take a bet on a young English manager whose career is on the up: their former midfielder, Michael Carrick.
He urged Daniel Levy to pair the current Middlesbrough head coach with Tottenham legend Glenn Hoddle, suggesting that those appointments could bring back the feel-good factor at the club.
Cole told Paddy Powe: “At Tottenham, Daniel Levy is running out of managerial candidates for the job. He’s gone big, he’s gone bold, and he’s gone off the beaten track, but none of them seem to have worked.
“Michael Carrick could be a good option for the manager’s job. An ex-Spurs player, who understands the club, would be quite nice. Also, I’d like to see Glenn Hoddle back at the club in some capacity. I know Tottenham fans would love to see him back and he’s got the best football brain I know.
“I’d love to see Glenn Hoddle back in the club in some capacity, maybe supporting Michael Carrick. The club needs bringing together because it was really torn at times last season.”
Tottenham have to make an exciting appointment if they sack Postecoglou
The only way Spurs fans will not be outraged by Postecoglou’s sacking is if Levy and the Tottenham heirarchy make an ambitious appointment.
At the moment, reports indicate that Thomas Frank is the favourite to get the Spurs job, and that has not been received very positively by some supporters on social media.
There is no chance that they would accept sacking a trophy-winning head coach for a manager from the Championship, which would only increase the animosity felt towards Levy and the club’s top brass.
