Joe Rodon sends classy message to Spurs after completing switch to Rennes

Joe Rodon has wished Tottenham ‘all the success’ for the upcoming campaign after sealing a move to Rennes.

Tottenham confirmed on Monday that Rodon had completed a loan move to Rennes, with the Ligue 1 club having an option to buy the centre-back permanently. According to reports, the permanent clause is worth around £16.7m (Football.London).

That brings to an end a frustrating two-year spell at Spurs for Rodon, who struggled to get much of a look in under three different head coaches in Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte.

The Wales international will be hoping to hit the ground running at Rennes and head into the World Cup in November in a good run of form.

Conte admitted last week that the World Cup being in mid-season is part of the reason the 24-year-old was keen to leave the club this summer (Football.London).

On completing his move to the French club, Rondon posted a classy message on Instagram stories, thanking the north London club. The defender’s message read: “Thank You @Spursofficial. I wish you all the success this season! #COYS.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite arguably being unfairly treated at times, Rodon has conducted himself with class and dignity during his two years at Spurs. He did not resort to antics like Steven Bergwijn, who constantly complained to the media about his lack of opportunities. I am sure that I speak for all Spurs fans when I say that I hope Rodon smashes it at Roazhon Park.
