Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe has now revealed that the club have set their sights on their next major youth acquisition.
Tottenham have since undergone some restructuring following the reappointment of Fabio Paratici ahead of the winter transfer window.
The Italian is expected to focus on senior team recruitment, while Technical Director Johan Lange looks to ensure more signings of the Bergvall type make their way to Tottenham.
It is understood that Lange is a fan of 17-year-old Anderlecht midfielder Nathan De Cat, but while there is admiration, a move is expected to come in the future rather than immediately.
Spurs must fend off competition in Europe for De Cat
Nathan De Cat currently plies his trade in the Belgian Pro League and has received a significant amount of game time so far this season despite being only 17.
The teenager has played a total of 1,764 minutes, appearing 18 times in the league, and just like Bergvall, he possesses impressive versatility.
De Cat has featured in two positions in midfield, playing as an eight and a six, making 14 and eight appearances respectively.
However, Tottenham are not the only ones who are interested in the teenager, with reports linking Aston Villa and Brighton as two sides that could challenge Spurs for De Cat’s signature.
