Latest reports reveal that Jonathan David, a player Tottenham have been in contact with, is now in advanced talks over a move for this summer.

Tottenham target out-of-contract Jonathan David
Tottenham Hotspur have been closely monitoring the situation of Jonathan David, a player who is now eligible to enter pre-contract talks with clubs across Europe.
The Canadian forward’s contract is now in the final month and he has notified his current club LOSC Lille that he will be moving on this summer.
Spurs have shown interest and reportedly made contact with the player himself, however, no deal has been reached.
The 25-year-old forward, who has spent most of his time in Europe and four years in Lille, has now scored over 100 goals for the French side and is attracting interest from multiple clubs in Europe.

Barcelona are in advanced talks with Spurs target David
According to TBR Football, one of the clubs said to be interested in securing the services of Jonathan David, is Barcelona. The news outlet is now reporting that David is in advanced talks with the Catalonian club.
Chief Correspondent Graeme Bailey, has also stated that it will be a “dream move” for the forward if he can make a switch to the Spanish side this summer.
The publication revealed that a host of English clubs, Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham all made contact with David’s entourage in the last few months.
However, it is believed by these clubs that the forward has already made his decision on where he will be playing next season and that is Barcelona.

Losing out on Jonathan David would be a blow for Tottenham
Given the amount of interest shown in the player, it was never going to be easy for Spurs to secure the services of the Canadian forward.
However, it would be a huge blow for Tottenham Hotspur to lose out on a player that they could have landed on a free. David is a player with immense quality that will have come in handy at Hotspur Way.
In fact, it was reported this week that Spurs were scared at the prospect of missing out on Jonathan David – a fear that may now become a reality.
Given Richarlison’s injury record, signing David on a free would have been the ideal solution to that problem.
The Lilywhites would have got a forward who can find the back of the net and a player who has a lot of experience playing in Europe. However, with Barcelona showing interest, it was always going to be tough.
