Jordan Henderson reveals Spurs and Liverpool stars have exchanged texts

Tottenham and Liverpool will fight it out for the honour of being crowned as the champions of Europe next Saturday at the Wanda Metroplitano Stadium in Madrid.

Both teams come into the game full of confidence after mounting terrific comebacks in the second legs of their respective semi-final clashes against Ajax and Barcelona.

While Liverpool finished 26 points ahead of Spurs in the Premier League and did the double over the Lilywhites, the last meeting between the sides back in March at Anfield was an extremely tight aware, with Spurs unfortunate to end up on the losing side.

Both teams also have several England internationals and thus know each other really well. Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson in an interview to The Telegraph has revealed that he has exchanged congratulatory texts with his England teammates who play for Spurs after the semifinal, including the sign-off “see you in the final”.

However, the 28-year-old also revealed that both sets of players haven’t spoken to each other since then as they know they are trying to take each other’s dream away.

Henderson said, “Spurs are trying to beat us. They are trying to take our dreams away. We’ve got to go out there and do the same.

“I wasn’t surprised Tottenham beat Man City in the quarters (or Ajax in the semis). They are a very good team. They didn’t make a lot of signings last summer, but that can often help a team because you have that unity and togetherness, which they’ve got in abundance.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite the way both Liverpool and Spurs generally play, we at Spurs Web feel this that the first half will be tight with very little space for both teams. Both teams will want to get a measure of their opponents first.

The game will be decided by moments of individual quality both defensively and offensively, and with both teams boasting of some amazing stars, it can certainly go either way.
