Jordan Pickford jokes what he has learned from watching Harry Kane play

Everton and England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has given his opinion on Harry Kane to BBC Radio 5 Live Sport (26/03/23) and heralded the Tottenham Hotspur star as a ‘top professional and a top athlete.’

Pickford has played alongside Kane for England for many years now, so is certainly well-placed to form an opinion on the 29-year-old striker.

Over the past weekend, we saw Kane become England’s all-time leading goalscorer (GOAL), after scoring his 54th and 55th goal in the recent international fixtures.

This comes in the same year as Kane surpassed Jimmy Greaves’ long-standing record as Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time leading goalscorer, too (GOAL).

Aside from being international teammates, there have been repeated rumours that Pickford may end up joining Kane at club level (Daily Mail).

If that were to happen, it’s safe to assume the two would get along just fine, as Pickford has been singing the praises of Kane recently.

He said: “I have said for a number of years, Kane is a top professional and a top athlete.

“The captain of the country. He leads on and off the pitch.

“Someone you can look up to and the standards he sets. We all try to set high standards. But he leads by example.”

When asked what he has learned from watching Kane play, Pickford joked: “Don’t come up against him every week.

“He’s a top striker. I think he is a good lad. Humble and he works hard.

“Every time he is out on the training pitch, he wants to improve. He gives his all.

“That’s something I do. I give my all. I do everything to be the best version of myself and I think that’s what Harry does as well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Harry Kane is simply one of the very best to ever play this sport, and it’s a shame he gets so much disrespect.

He seems like a genuinely nice person, has all the ability in the world, and now has the records to prove that he is a master of his art.
