Jose Mourinho has aimed a sly dig in the direction of Tottenham Hotspur after claiming that he won half a trophy during his time in North London.
The Portuguese guided Tottenham to the final of the Carabao Cup final but was sacked by Daniel Levy just six days before he was due to lead his side out.
Levy instead handed 29-year-old Ryan Mason the responsibility preparing the players for the Wembley showpiece with City dominating the proceedings, having comfortably run out as 2-0 winners to prolong Spurs’ thirteen year wait for a competitive pice of silverware.
It was the first time in his managerial career that he has left a club without having won a trophy, but in the eyes of the 58-year-old, he was half successful despite not being give the opportunity to square off against Pep Guardiola in the final.
Tottenham are still seeking Mourinho’s replacement, over fifty days later while he wasted no time in returning to management having taken up the offer at Roma.
He told The Sun in an interview with James Corden: But with me the level of expectation coming from the media is completely different.”
Corden replied: “But some of that pressure you bring on yourself. In press conferences you’ll say things like, ‘Three, three!’”

“I don’t arrive and say three or five [trophies],” Mourinho added. “James, if you want to be proactive you can ask me how many trophies I have won in my career — 25 and a half.”
Asked about the half, he responded: “The half is the final I didn’t play with Tottenham.”
