Jose Mourinho appears to aim second dig at Spurs in the space of a week

Jose Mourinho has appeared to have taken a fresh dig at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Roma’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Leicester City.

The Portuguese was sat in front of the media at the pre-match press conference earlier this evening in Rome and was quizzed about the importance of the tie.

Mourinho was sacked by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy just less than a week before the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City with interim boss Ryan Mason going on to lose the Wembley showpiece.

Spurs had found themselves in seventh place in the Premier League table at the time of his dismissal, having picked up two points in their last three games.

The 59-year-old was asked about his desire to win the European competition and book his place in the final but could not resist another mention of his former employer.

He told Sky Sports: “I want to win the next one always, if the next one is the semi-final, even more.

“Of course the semi-final gives you the right to play a final – if you are not sacked before the final.”

It is not the first time that Mourinho has mentioned Spurs ahead of the double header against Leicester, a week ago he described his departure as a unique event instigated by a unique man [Levy] (Express).

Mourinho is coming across as very bitter about his sacking at Spurs which saw him end his impressive record of winning a trophy at every club he has managed. Even though Spurs fans had to endure a few months of Nuno Espirito Santo, there is nobody they’d rather prefer on the touchline than Antonio Conte.
