Jose Mourinho asked if this is the best squad he has ever inherited

Jose Mourinho really has stepped into a high-quality Tottenham team, with the foundations built by his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino.

While the squad was not performing towards the start of the season, it still contained some of the very best players that the Premier League has to offer.

Harry Kane is one of the best strikers in the world, while Heung Min Son and Hugo Lloris were recently named in the top 25 Balon d’Or list.

Tanguy Ndombele recently broke the club record transfer fee, with Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon also coming in last summer.

Mourinho also has the likes of Dele Alli, Lucas Moura, Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez, Harry Winks, Jan Vertonghen, and more to choose from.

Remember, this is a team that reached the final of the Champions League earlier this year.

Mourinho was asked in his press conference whether it was the best squad he had ever inherited.

He said (Football London): “(Laughs) I’ve coached Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Chelsea, I cannot say that. I can say that I love the squad in terms of the players they are and in terms of the human beings they are.

“I can say I had that feeling before I came and now I developed that feeling. I like them very, very much. But I cannot say that because that would be very, very unfair to some big players and big squads that I had and big trophies that we won together, but I love these guys.”
