Jose Mourinho asked whether he would have taken the Arsenal job if offered

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to take on their first Premier League home match under Jose Mourinho this weekend as they welcome Bournemouth to the new stadium.

However, could things have been very different if Pochettino had remained at the club for an extra week, or if Unai Emery had been sacked by Arsenal a week earlier?

Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board decided to part ways with Poch during the international break after a poor start to the season for Spurs.

They then appointed Mourinho within 24 hours of Poch’s sacking, snatching up the Special One before any other club could get their hands on him.

Just over a week later and Arsenal have also sacked their manager, Unai Emery, after a similarly tough start to the 2019/20 campaign.

Unsurprisingly, Mourinho was asked today in his press conference whether he would have taken the Arsenal job had it cropped up before the Tottenham one.

He said: “No point in telling you. I’m so happy here I cannot think of the possibility of another club. If you put any other club in the world in front of me now I’d say no.”
