Jose Mourinho bites back at England’s Gareth Southgate in Harry Kane feud

The friendly feud between Jose Mourinho and Gareth Southgate continued yesterday evening as the Spurs head coach bit back at the England manager.

The saga began earlier in the week when Mourinho seemed to ask Southgate not to overplay Kane in England’s upcoming international friendlies this month.

However, the Tottenham boss added that he would respect Southgate’s right to choose the team and would not call him up about the issue.

Southgate responded to these comments in his own press conference yesterday, claiming that Mourinho may not have called him, but he sang his message from the rooftop.

Gareth also added that Kane is an England player, posing the question, would Spurs rest him to ensure he is fit and ready for the Euros next summer?

In the third round of the feud, Mourinho has now promised Southgate that he will not play Kane in a single minute of a friendly match for the rest of the season.

Mourinho said (Jonathan Veal): “So he doesn’t get jealous, Gareth is my friend. What I can promise that I until the end of the season I don’t play Harry Kane in any minute of any friendly match.”
