Jose Mourinho claims some of his side scare him after defeat to Man City

Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has claimed that Heung-min Son, Harry Kane and Pierre Emile Hojbjerg ‘scared’ him with their respective performances against Manchester City.

The North Londoners were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat to the Premier League leaders, which meant that Mourinho’s side have lost four of their last five Premier League games, as many defeats as they suffered in their previous 28 league matches.

Despite City never really having to get out of third gear during the clash at the Emirates, Mourinho admitted that he was happy with the work rate of his side, especially given the fact that many of them had played in last Wednesday’s FA Cup defeat to Everton which went to extra time.

The Portuguese gave a special mention to Son, Kane and Hojbjerg following the defeat given the work rate which they displayed.

Kane came close to giving Spurs the lead when his free-kick hit the post, but unfortunately from that moment onwards, it was downhill with Hojbjerg conceding a penalty in successive matches.

Mourinho told Mourinho has told BBC Sport that: “I saw a team where the players, they gave everything. Some of them scare me. They scare me because two hours of football, plus 90 minutes and the way they were still fighting and running – Kane, Pierre, Sonny,”

“The way these boys were trying to give everything I was afraid of something to happen.”
