Jose Mourinho claims this Spurs man is not expected to play again this season

Tottenham Hotspur announced today that Steven Bergwijn will face an extended period on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The Dutchman sustained the significant sprain during the match against Burnley at the weekend, with many fans noticing the player hobbling in the dying minutes.

Jose Mourinho has now come out and claimed that he does not expect the new Spurs signing to feature again this season, adding another name to the long-term injury list.

He added that Ben Davies is one or two weeks away from a return.

Tottenham have been without Harry Kane since January 1 when the striker ruptured the tendon in his left hamstring. Heung-min Son has also been missing for weeks with a fractured arm that he picked up early in the match against Aston Villa last month.

Moussa Sissoko has also not been seen since New Years Day when he picked up a knock against Southampton that later required surgery.

Mourinho claims that the squad are now used to the injuries (Football London): “Yes, I can believe it. Ben, one week, two weeks. Steven, I don’t expect him to play again this season.

“We’re used to it. I’d say we were psychologically more down with the other injuries because when you’ve got four or five injuries, what’s six or seven?”
