Jose Mourinho comments on Heung Min Son’s form and predicts goals tomorrow

Heung Min Son is known for coming alive in the absence of Harry Kane, but it has been a quiet few matches for the South Korean since returning from suspension.

While Pochettino would often operate with Son as his striker when Kane was injured, playing to the singer’s strengths, Mourinho has preferred Lucas Moura.

Sonny has been operating from the left-wing, but Spurs have been unable to create him too many chances in front of goal.

Of course, Mourinho plays with a different style to Pochettino, opting for more direct balls that perhaps do not lend themselves to the strengths of Moura and Son, whose games are based around dribbling, skill, and pace.

Son already has ten goals and nine assist this season in all competitions, but has not netted since the game against Burnley on December 7 (Transfer Markt).

Jose Mourinho claims that the forward is doing fine and is predicting there to be goals for him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium tomorrow.

He said (Football London): “I think he is playing fine, he is not finding the goal. In every match, we can go to situations where he could score. We go for example to Watford and in the first half he had that run with a long pass that instead of controlling he hit it with the first touch and it went over the bar. We had one in the second half when on the middle right he hit a very strong shot over the bar too.

“The situations are there, attacking players need confidence, confidence comes with goals not with words or hugs – they come with goals. Fantastic player, fantastic boy, great professional, he is the kind of player that even if he doesn’t score goals he is good for the team.

“They are some kind of strikers that if they score they are brilliant, if they don’t they don’t give anything for the team. He gives us so much even if he doesn’t score that I am not so worried about it, the goals will arrive and I believe it will be tomorrow.”
