Jose Mourinho comments player who is about to earn permanent move to Spurs

Giovani Lo Celso enjoyed another sensational game for Spurs today in the FA Cup against Southampton, as the Argentine created Tottenham’s opener.

Gio picked the ball up in his own half and skipped past the challenges of multiple Saints players, before cutting back inside another and laying the ball off.

Heung Min Son finished off the move with a pinpoint finish into the far corner with his left foot, not his first good chance of the game.

Lo Celso is now beginning to earn regular starts in a Spurs shirt, as well as stringing together some impressive performances for the Lilywhites.

Jose Mourinho was asked about Tottenham’s option to buy clause today in his press conference, as he claimed that Lo Celso was making the choice easy.

It has previously been reported that Spurs can secure the signing at a cut-price €32m in January, or wait until the end of the season when it will rise to €40m (ABC Sevilla).

Mourinho said (Football London): “It’s not an obligation, it’s an option. I think the boy is earning the decision. He’s making an easy decision for the club to execute the option. Incredible evolution since I arrived. Barely played a game, I think he played against Red Star Belgrade, with me a little bit difficult to come in the first few weeks.

“But he understood what we wanted. Good learner, good kid and I think by himself he made the decision that the club is going to execute the option. That’s normal, he earned it.”
