Jose Mourinho confirms injury blow with player to miss festive period

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt an injury blow with the news that Giovani Lo Celso will miss the upcoming festive fixture period and into the New Year.

The Argentine picked up a hamstring injury during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Leicester City on Sunday and will be sidelined for what is to be a busy festive period for the North Londoners which begins with a tough trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

Lo Celso was named in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven against the Foxes but appeared to be in discomfort after awkwardly challenging for the ball and had to be replaced by Lucas Moura on 49 minutes.

The former Real Betis man has had difficulties with injury since making the move to the Premier League having suffered hip and thigh injuries (transfermarkt).

Lo Celso was arguably Tottenham’s brightest player at the turn of the year but has only started four Premier League matches this season (transfermarkt).

Jonathan Veal, who was present at Jose Mourinho’s press conference relayed the news from the Spurs head coach.
