Jose Mourinho explains why he does not expect FA ban for Eric Dier after crowd trouble

Jose Mourinho has now claimed that he does not expect Eric Dier to receive a ban from the FA, despite the fact that the Spurs defender entered the crowd earlier this season.

Dier was charged with misconduct in April over the incident but has been waiting to hear back from the FA regarding a potential suspension (Guardian).

This came after Dier jumped over the advertising boards in March after an FA Cup defeat to Norwich City and proceeded to climb up multiple rows of seats to reach a fan.

It turned out that Dier had been attempting to reach his brother in order to save him from a potential altercation with frustrated Spurs fans (Sky).

However, Mourinho claimed in his Zoom pre-match press conference that he does not expect any further punishment after Arsenal’s Matteo Guendouzi escaped a ban for his action against Brighton last week (Guardian).

The French midfielder was pictured with his hand around the throat of Brighton’s Neal Maupay in the 2-1 loss.
