Jose Mourinho gives his first verdict on Harry Kane’s hamstring injury

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho has given his early verdict on Harry Kane’s injury.

The striker hobbled off with the assistance of one of the Spurs medical team on 75 minutes against Southampton.

Kane had stretched to put the ball in the back of the net with his left foot and immediately clutched the back of his leg and signalled to the bench to replace him. Kane’s effort was checked by VAR and ruled as offside.

After the 1-0 defeat, Mourinho confirmed that Kane has picked up a hamstring problem and admits that he does not yet know the extent of the injury, but claimed that hamstring issues are never good news.

Kane headed straight down the St Mary’s tunnel after sustaining the injury and was replaced by Erik Lamela.

The striker must now be considered to be a serious doubt for Sunday’s FA Cup third round clash against Championship outfit Middlesbrough.
