Jose Mourinho gives update on Lo Celso injury ahead of North London Derby

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Jose Mourinho, has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso came off against Bournemouth last night with an injury problem.

The Argentine started yet again in the heart of the creative midfield for Spurs, although he struggled to get a foothold in the game.

Lo Celso was removed at half-time when Mourinho introduced the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, although it was unclear as to whether this was tactical or injury-related at the time.

Mourinho has now confirmed that the midfielder was taken off due to discomfort in his ankle after receiving a knock.

This news comes just days before the North London Derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Lo Celso being one of the few shining lights for Spurs of late.

Mourinho gave no indication as to whether the Argentine would be fit to start against the Gunners or not, so that remains to be seen. Spurs fans will certainly be hoping to see him in the XI come the North London Derby kick-off.

In his post-match press conference, the Spurs head coach said (Football London): “I had Giovani with a problem, he was kicked in the ankle. He was not feeling comfortable. He was also coming from 90 minutes very hard against Everton.”
