Jose Mourinho hits out at ‘unprofessional’ nature of Fulham match postponement

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Jose Mourinho has now hit out at the ‘unprofessional’ nature of the mid-week postponement against Fulham.

Spurs were due to host their London rivals in a match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday, but the game was called off due to a series of positive COVID-19 results from their opponents.

Both Alasdair Gold and Charlie Eccleshare reported earlier this week that Spurs were left displeased with how the situation was handled.

Reports indicated on Tuesday that the Tottenham vs Fulham match was at risk of postponement due to positive test cases, with it later being revealed that Fulham requested the rescheduling.

The Premier League claim they took the decision to postpone after consulting with experts, but only announced such a decision mere hours before kick-off.

Mourinho already showed his displeasure towards the decision on Instagram as he highlighted that his side were still waiting for confirmation on matchday. The head coach has now hit out at the way in which the situation was handled.

He said (Charlie Eccleshare): “I felt (it was) unprofessional, but that’s the way it was. We were preparing ourselves for that match and then we didn’t play, and that is disruptive of what is a week of work.”
