Jose Mourinho implies that he already knows whether Eriksen is staying or going

Christian Eriksen has just six months or so remaining on his Tottenham contract, begging the question will he be in North London this time next Christmas?

Toby Alderweireld just signed a new long-term deal with the Lilywhites and you can only imagine that Spurs would want the same for the Great Dane.

By seeing him leave on a free in the summer, Daniel Levy and co would be waving goodbye to an incredible player and to the transfer fee that comes with him.

Eriksen will be free to talk to non-English clubs in January about a pre-contract agreement ahead of next season.

However, Jose Mourinho is still readily using the playmaker, often coming off the bench to influence games in the second half, as he did today against Brighton.

This could work for all parties, as Eriksen gets to give back to the fans and impress potential new suitors, while Mourinho has a great player he can depend on from the bench.

Mourinho admitted today that Eriksen has always been clear regarding his long-term plans (Football London): “I know, I know, or at least I think I know because Christian has always been very clear with me. I will not be the one to say though.”
