Jose Mourinho labels Southampton man as an ‘idiot’ after receiving yellow card

It was yet another frustrating afternoon for Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League as they dropped points again, this time away to Southampton.

Spurs went 1-0 down for the fourth game in a row and never recovered, as the Saints outplayed them offensively and defensively from start to finish.

This comes just days after Spurs went behind twice against Norwich City at Carrow Road, dropping two points in the race for the top four.

It was a tough watch for Spurs fans at St Mary’s today as the team struggled to string two passes together, let alone create a chance or score a goal.

Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Kane were also both forced off with injuries during the game, leaving Spurs without their record signing and top scorer.

Jose Mourinho was seen confronting a member of the Southampton bench during the match, for which he was then booked. The manager has now labelled the man an idiot, but accepts he deserved the booking.

He said (Football London): “I think the yellow card was fair as I was rude. I was rude to an idiot. Because I was rude I deserved the yellow card.”
