Jose Mourinho on his Tottenham January plans – ‘This is what I want’

Tottenham Hotspur head coach, Jose Mourinho, may have inherited a strong squad made up largely of Champions League finalists from earlier this year, but his position is far from ideal.

The Special One came in a couple of months into the season, meaning he was not granted a pre-season with his squad in order to train, build up fitness, and instil his ideas.

He is essentially having to learn and teach on the go, with the season well underway and there being no time for dramatic slip-ups.

Mourinho has also been unable to put his mark on the squad with signings, as he has not yet been in charge across a transfer window.

This means that the new year, with the January transfer window and the small winter break in the Premier League, could provide a great opportunity for the manager.

He claims that all he wants in time with the squad (Football London): “I want to work. I’m going to have time to work, which until now I don’t have. I complain every day, the frustrating is I can’t do certain kind of training. It’s frustrating. I love pre-season to work. I don’t have. January we’re going to have a little bit and then week in February without Premier League. This is what I want. I want time.”
