Jose Mourinho opens up on Giovani Lo Celso situation – ‘It didn’t click yet’

Tottenham Hotspur take on Burnley in the Premier League this weekend as they look to rebound from that disappointing loss against Man United on Wednesday evening.

However, Spurs fans hopeful to see a Giovani Lo Celso start may be disappointed, as Jose Mourinho has hinted in his press conference that the midfield man may need more time.

Lo Celso has only started two games for Spurs, both of which came under his fellow Argentine, Mauricio Pochettino.

Giovani started against Red Star Belgrade for his full debut in the Champions League, even scoring the opening goal, before also earning a spot in the XI for the following Premier League clash against Sheffield United.

However, since then, the Argentine has only played a bit-part role in North London, only featuring in cameos under Jose Mourinho so far.

The Special One claims that while Lo Celso is a good player, it has not yet clicked for him in England and he will be given more time to reach his potential.

Mourinho said: “Even under Mauricio, with another Argentine, and everything around him right it didn’t click yet, he didn’t explode straight away. We know the good player he is, we’ll give him time and we know he’ll be a very good player for us.”
