Jose Mourinho provides fitness update on Gareth Bale ahead of Leicester City clash

Jose Mourinho has now revealed that Gareth Bale is back in contention to face Leicester City on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This comes after the Welshman missed both the Crystal Palace trip and the clash at Anfield against Liverpool over the past week thanks to illness.

Mourinho claims that the on-loan Real Madrid man is now fine and has been training with the first team for the past two days. He added that, if Bale is also fine tomorrow, he should be able to play a part.

Since re-joining Spurs in the summer, Bale has been given the majority of his opportunities in the Europa League as he regains his fitness on the pitch.

He currently has one goal in the competition from six appearances, as well as one goal in the Premier League from three matches (TransferMarkt).

Tottenham fans will be hoping to see the Welshman on the pitch a bit more during the congested festive fixture period.

Mourinho said (Alasdair Gold): “He’s fine. Trained yesterday with the team and today. He looks ok. If he’s ok again tomorrow then he’ll be fine.”
