Jose Mourinho provides update on Erik Lamela and when he may return for Spurs

Jose Mourinho has provided a fitness update on Erik Lamela today, revealing that he came out for training after the cameras were turned off.

The Spurs head coach went on to reveal that Lamela had been undergoing gym work ahead of his return, before emerging for on-field training.

Mourinho also hinted that the Argentine could return during Tottenham’s congested festive period, as well as the fixtures that run into January.

Lamela has made ten appearances this season across all competitions, with Mourinho using him as a number 10 option alongside Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.

However, the attacking midfielder has missed the past four Premier League matches and three Europa League clashes due to a calf injury (TransferMarkt). Of course, Spurs fans will know that Lamela is no stranger to a long-term injury.

Mourinho and the Tottenham faithful will be hoping to see the Hard-working Argentine back on the pitch in the near future after he made a positive start to the season.

Mourinho said (Football London): “Erik came out after the training cameras went off. I have nothing to hide. He was in the gym and then came out on to the pitches. We have lots of games coming up and in January and hopefully, Lamela will be back for that.”
