Jose Mourinho provides update on potential Dele Alli injury return date

Tottenham Hotspur strengthened their Europa League charge last night with a 3-1 win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Surprisingly, despite managing over two stints at Chelsea and once at Manchester United, Jose Mourinho had never before claimed victory at the iconic ground of the Magpies.

The Special One used Giovani Lo Celso as his main link between the midfield and attack in the first half, before playing Heung-min Son as a number ten late on.

This came in the absence of Dele Alli, the man who has so regularly and successfully occupied the position in recent years.

Alli, who has been sidelined for the past two weeks with a hamstring injury, will be hoping to get back out onto the pitch before the current Premier League season ends.

Despite there now being just two more Spurs games to come, against Leicester and Crystal Palace, Mourinho has revealed that Alli could play a part.

Mourinho had this to say (Football London): “Maybe Dele can give us a hand in the last match or maybe this weekend. Eric Dier is coming in the last match as another option. Let’s see if we can end the season strong and get that Europa League position.”
