Jose Mourinho reacts to the new signings of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon

Tottenham Hotspur certainly didn’t need any help in attack this afternoon despite the recent loan signing of Gareth Bale as Harry Kane and Heung-min Son ran riot.

The two Spurs stars managed a combined five goals and four assists at St Mary’s in a 5-2 win over Southampton in the Premier League.

However, the defensive performance from the Lilywhites, particularly in the first half, left a lot to be desired. Some fans will be hoping that Bale’s fellow new boy, Sergio Reguilon, may be able to help with this in the future.

With the two new Spurs signings finally being announced yesterday evening, the press got their first chance to get a reaction from Jose Mourinho today in Southampton.

The Tottenham head coach claimed that Bale remains one of the top players in Europe while Reguilon was ‘amazing’ at left-back for Sevilla last season. He added that he was happy to bring both of them in from Madrid this summer.

Dan Kilpatrick reports that Mourinho said: “Gareth, when fit, is one of the top players in Europe. Sergio was amazing last season. If you ask me if I’m happy to have these players, yes I am.”
