Jose Mourinho responds to Christian Eriksen to Man United rumours

Tottenham Hotspur could well lose their chief playmaker at the end of this season with Christian Eriksen currently in the final year of his North London contract.

Eriksen was a mainstay in the side throughout the Pochettino era, but has been dropped to the bench under Jose Mourinho so far.

This comes just a month before the Great Dane can start talking to clubs about pre-contract agreements ahead of a free transfer in the summer.

However, he would not be able to talk to English clubs until the end of the season, which would include Manchester United.

United have been linked with Eriksen in the papers this week. The Mirror report that the Red Devils made an approach last summer but Eriksen preferred Champions League football at Tottenham.

They are hoping to tempt the midfield man on a free at the end of this season instead, with United beating Spurs this week in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho was asked about the rumours today, to which he said: “My feelings are that until I have anything official rather than hypothetical things and speculation, there is not much to comment. The only thing that is very, very objective is that the player is a free agent at the end of the season. That’s the only thing we know from a pragmatic point of view, apart from that I cannot say.”
