Jose Mourinho reveals how he is getting the best out of Serge Aurier

Tottenham Hotspur have had a number of standout players in Mourinho’s first two matches in charge of the team, including Harry Kane for his goals and Dele Alli for his creativity.

However, perhaps the surprise package of the last two weeks has been Serge Aurier and his rise to the best form we have seen from him in a Spurs shirt.

Aurier managed to grab an assist against West Ham United last weekend in the Premier League, before recording another assist and a goal against Olympiacos on Tuesday.

This is a huge turnaround from the player who gave away a penalty against Liverpool, got sent off against Southampton, and had a dismal display against Bayern Munich.

Spurs fans will be hoping that to Ivorian has turned a corner in North London and can go on to make that starting right-back spot his own, cutting out his defensive mistakes.

Mourinho revealed today how he is getting the best out of Aurier (Football London): “Serge has to be very offensive, that is his nature as a player, that is the best qualities he has so he must have the freedom I am giving him to go forward because he can hurt opponents, he can break the balance of defensive teams and I think he has conditions to evolve.”
