Jose Mourinho reveals player was already injured before he faced Aston Villa

Jose Mourinho has taken to Instagram the praise the lengths of dedication which Ben Davies went to against Aston Villa.

The Welsh FA confirmed yesterday that the left-back had withdrawn from their national team for the upcoming internationals against Belgium, Mexico and the Czech Republic due to injury.

Davies was named among the substitutes for Sunday’s trip to Villa Park with Mourinho deciding to start Sergio Reguilon on the left side of his defence.

Reguilon lasted 57 minutes of the Premier League encounter before he had to be withdrawn and replaced by Davies for the remainder of the match.

Mourinho commented on a post by the club’s official Instagram account which confirmed Davies’ withdrawal and revealed that the 27-year-old was already injured before he came on as a substitute and described the former Swansea man as a team player.

The Portuguese will be hoping that Davies and Reguilon are able to return to fitness by the time Spurs are next in action when they travel to St James’ Park to face Newcastle United on April 4th.
